NFSC Coaching Staff

It's not obvious from her photo, but Donna Paul has been a coach at Newton FSC for more than 30 years! She is a level 3 certified coach and teaches in a wide range of disciplines: freeskate, dance, skills, PreJunior, and synchro. Donna was named Coach of the Year for the BC/YT section in 2005. Donna is an avid volunteer for several charities in her home community and serves on the Newton FSC executive, as well.  Her hobbies include gardening and genealogy.

David has been instructing skating at all levels since 1991 and has taught skaters from the beginning Canskate level through to the Gold test.  His skaters have won BC Championships and have competed at national competitions, as well.  David took some time out from coaching to perform in numerous international ice shows as a Soloist and Dance/Pairs skater.  He is also an expert skate sharpener and works for the City of Surrey as an Icemaker and Arena Operator.  In addition to his duties as a Newton Club coach, David teaches at several clubs in the Lower Mainland and is well-respected as an expert ice dance instructor and partner for skaters taking dance tests.

Danalee Harrison has been a Skate Canada coach for over 20 years and has been involved with Newton FSC since the age of six. Today, she continues to promote a love of figure skating and enhance the club's profile by working with skaters of all levels. Currently, Danalee is NCCP Level 3 Certified and Gold CEP Level (Continuous Education Program). Danalee received the Skate Canada Club and Recreation Coach Award of Excellence at the national level for the 2012-2013 season. She also received the BC/YK Section Club and Recreation Coach Award of Excellence for the 2013-2014 season.

Danalee teaches all disciplines of singles at the Newton FSC and coaches three Synchronized Skating teams with the Lower Mainland Synchronized Skating Club.  Her teams regularly compete at provincial, regional and national events and have won numerous medals of all colours as a result of her choreography and coaching skills. Danalee and her supportive husband have two children who keep her busy with their own activites when she is not at the rink.
